E.N.T.-Head and Neck Surgery Center


The department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is one of the national key clinical specialties. It provides diagnosis and treatment for diseases of ear, nose, throat, head and neck. It includes board-certified physicians, fellows, and residents. Our department has 84 clinical beds and 2 sleep apnea beds, 60 of which are in northern branch, and 24 in southern branch. The clinical team has 29 doctors and 2 technicians altogether, with 2 doctoral supervisors, and 3 master degree supervisors. There're 14 senior physicians, and 14 attending physicians, of which 14 are MD degree graduates, and 10 hold master degrees.

Our department is divided into division of rhinology, otology, throat and head and neck. Specialties include microsurgery of the ear, skull base tumors, sinus surgery, rhinology, sinus disease, tumors of the head and neck, laryngology, swallowing disorders, thyroid nodules and vocal and speech disorders. To provide patients with quality service, we offer comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for the diseases of the ear, nose, and throat, head and neck. Subspecialties include center for head and neck cancer, center for voice, center for laser, center for laryngology, center for sleep disorder and snoring, center for allergy. According to the data released by the hospital last year, the total number of outpatient and inpatient are 148,737. 3,084 surgeries were performed annually. 

As one of the national key clinical specialties, we always emphasize talents training. We've won 8 national natural science funds, 3 key funds of shanghai science and technology committee, and 10 funds of shanghai health bureau. We've been awarded the 3rd prize of Chinese medical science and technology award, Shanghai science and technology award, and shanghai medical award. 

In addition, our physicians also participate in research and clinical teaching. Up to now, we have already applied for 10 projects at different levels. As one of the affiliated hospital with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and teaching hospital of Nanjing Medical University, we firmly believe the growth of a discipline and even a hospital rely on the talents, so we pass on knowledge from senior physician to young doctors. We cultivated 24 master students, 10 medical doctors and 3 postdoctors in the past 5 years. As one of Shanghai residency-training base and Shanghai fellowship training base, we're devoted to training otolaryngology residents and fellows, responsible for 12 residents. We also host Gongji Otolaryngology Forum -Yangzi River Triangle Municipal Development Forum of new technology on Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery each year.
