the First Neuro-endoscopy Simulation Training was Successfully Held

Recently, the first neuro-endoscopy simulation training was held by neurosurgical department of Shanghai No.1 general hospital. With the development of neuro-endoscopic technique, currently, several unsolvable surgical problems about on middle line region of cranial base can be resolved. Thus, neuro-endoscopic technique has been one of the most basic neurosurgical techniques and it is necessary to organize several systemic trainings on neuro-endoscopic simulation and surgical skills. This practical training is designed for urgent need and aim to reach the level (level 2) of nasal sinus or pituitary operation by primary step-by-step training.

There are 9 trainees in the first practical training, who come from Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai and so on. We combined simulation training with operation on corpse and adopted one-for-one teaching model. And at the end of each stage, advisor would give comments and make a summary. Finally, each trainee got texts both on operation and theory. Everyone met requirement and was awarded certificate of completion.

As the endoscopic training base of Ministry of Health, such practical training will be held 4 times every year and will accept enrollment all the year round. According to the international neuro-endoscopic general operating grades, we will set up 4 levels and apply the international neuro-endoscopic teaching materials.
