New Consulting Area of Pediatric Officially Opens at Southern Branch

As an important planning project of the Southern Branch during the "12th Five-Year Plan" period, the new consulting area of pediatrics at the Women and Children's Center of the Southern Branch opened, which marks the internal expansion work of pediatrics for two months has been completed. Then, our Women and Children's Clinical Medical Center becomes the largest one of the same kind in Shanghai.
As Songjiang's economy and population develop, the Southern Branch receives more and more patients in recent years. Compared to other districts of Shanghai, Songjiang has a relatively young population structure as a whole. In addition to the large immigratory population, a great number of infants are born each year, leading to a great demand for pediatrics service.
In order to relieve the saturated situation of the pediatrics department at Southern Branch for a long time, the Hospital made a plan for this reorganization and expansion work, increasing the consulting area from 600 sqm to 1,550 sqm. The consulting rooms rise to 14 from 7 including three outpatients for children health care. It also increases three doctors to 25 from 22. This greatly alleviates the situation of hard to visit a doctor of pediatrics.
In addition to getting relevant advices and suggestions from the medical staff and relatives of the patients, this reconstruction and expansion of the pediatrics department also resulted from the experience of other hospitals. The consulting area of pediatrics is provided with independent test cabinet, rescue room, atomizing chamber, transfusion room, pharmacy, comprehensive service desk as well as children's park, nursing room and self-service registration and inquiry machine so that a one-stop service from consultation and registration to visiting doctor, test, taking medicine and fluid infusion is realized without leaving the pediatrics zone, which provides convenience for the patients and their parents.
