After graduated from Dalhousie University, he studied in the Joslin Diabetes Center of Harvard University. Now he is the Vice President of Chinese Diabetes Mellitus Association, Standing Committee Member and Deputy Chief of Basic Group of Endocrinology Branch of Chinese Medical Association, Member of Expert Committee for Rational Drug Use of the Ministry of Health, Expert Cooperative Group for Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases Prevention and Anti-Tthrombus of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, Vice Chairman and Leader of Basic Group of Shanghai Endocrinology Association, Executive Member of Shanghai Rehabilitation Engineering Board, Chairman of Shanghai Diabetes Rehabilitation Association, Member of Shanghai College Review Committee, Review Expert of National 863 Plan and National Sience Fundation and Member of Expert Committee of Shanghai Endocrinology Clinical Quality Control Center.   He is also the Chief Editor of World of Diabetes (Shanghai issue), Editorial Board Member and Specially Invited Reviewer of Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Chinese Journal of Diabetes Mellitus, Chinese Journal of Diabetes, Shanghai Medical Journal, Chinese Journal of Organ Transplantation, Journal of Diabetes and its Complications and Metabolism, participant in compiling Encyclopaedia of Chinese Medicine. He has published 230 academic papers on international and domestic journals including over 20 SCI articles. He won the First Prize for Science and Technology Advancement of the Ministry of Education and the Second Prize for Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Advancement.
