Department of Vascular Surgery Has an Intensive Dialog with Director of Vascular Surgery of Italian Pisa University
A few days ago, our hospital invited Professor Jos C. van den Berg, Director of Vascular Surgery of Italian Pisa University to make academic visit to the Southern Branch. Under the leadership of our physicians, Professor Jos C. van den Berg visited the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Southern Branch and we introduced the overview of the hospital and department and the latest clinical and scientific research achievement to him. Then, Professor Jos C. van den Berg had an exchange with the doctors of the Department of Vascular Surgery in terms of the complicated operations and latest progress in interventional treatment field. They performed a surgery at DSA Room. During the operation, they jointly formulated the best operation plan, exchanged surgical skills and conducted a fierce and pleasant academic discussion after the operation. Professor Jos C. van den Berg spoke highly of our achievements made in recent three years. He also shared the overview of European vascular surgery in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy.
As a well-known expert in interventional radiology and vascular surgery of Europe, Professor Jos C. van den Berg graduated from Leiden University and has been engaging in interventional radiology work for nearly 28 years. He took the position of the Director of Radiology Department of St. Antonius Hospital in the Netherlands, Director of Interventional Radiology Department of Lugano Hospital in Switzerland and Director of Department of Vascular Surgery of Pisa University in Italy one after another. He is active in several radiology and intervention associations including CIRSE, SIR and ESR. He was the Chairman of Dutch Vessel Forum and Science Committee of IWES.In addition, Professor Jos C. van den Bergis also the reviewer of several authoritative medical magazines.
The Department of Vascular Surgery, a subdiscipline of surgery, is primarily set for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular diseases other than cerebral vascular and cardiovascular diseases. Blood vessels spread all over of the body except for hair, nail and cornea. Thus, vascular surgery is widely distributed. At present, only several general hospitals in China have independent vascular surgery which represents the advanced medical level of a hospital. The Department of Vascular Surgery in Souther Branch has had a relatively mature diagnosis team over many years of development. The diagnosis scope extends from carotid artery to arteria dorsalis pedis. The overall strength has ranked top among similar advanced disciplines. In future, we will continue to learn new minimally invasive concept and surgical skills so as to serve the patients.
