Clinical Feature


The Department of Chest Surgery primarily treats various chest diseases including benign and malignant lung tumor, benign and malignant esophageal carcinoma, mediastinal tumor, tracheal tumor, chest malformation, chest wall diseases and chest trauma. The surgeries performed by it cover various radical resection of pulmonary carcinoma (lobectomy of lung, sleeve-like resection of lung lobe, total pneumonectomy), resection of benign lung tumor, lung volume reduction surgery, various tracheal operations, various esophageal surgeries (esophagus, radical operation of carcinoma of gastric cardia, esophageal replacement with colon, Heller's operation, excision of oesophagus leiomyoma), various mediastinum diseases and diaphragm operations (resection of giant tumor in mediastinum, thymectomy, diaphragmatic hernia repair, hiatus hernia repair), various chest wall and pleural cavity disease operations (resection of benign and malignant chest wall tumor, chest wall repair, pleural decortication for chronic pyothorax, resection of pleural mesothelioma). It forms its own feature in the expansive radical operation of late, giant and difficult chest tumor. In recent years, the Department of Chest Surgery expands the operation scope of local late lung tumor (T4) to improve the rate of radical resection, protuberance resection and reconstruction, sleeve type and bronchial, vascular double sleeve type resection, resection and reconstruction of large vessels like precava and aorta, resection of atrium and centrum part and resection of remaining lung. In addition, it has rich experience in surgical treatment of giant mediastinal tumor, resection and reconstruction of invasive chest wall tumor. In recent years, the Department of Chest Surgery developed minimally invasive operation and performed various operations under thoracoscope (thoracoscopic lobectomy of lung, bullae of lung resection, pleurodesis, wedge resection of the lung, total thymectomy, resection of esophageal carcinoma, removal of leiomyoma of esophagus, diverticulectomy of esophagus, esophagomyotomy, hiatus hernia repair, sympathectomy to treat palmar hyperhidrosis, funnel chest correction), lymph node biopsy under thoracoscope, laparoscope and mediastinoscope and many minimally invasive operations with small incision path which covers various common benign and malignant diseases in chest surgery including lung, esophagus, mediastinum and chest wall. At present, they have become the regular operations of our department.
