Profile
Dr. Fan Guorong is the director of Clinical Pharmacy Department at Shanghai General Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University. And he is also the director of Shanghai Key laboratory of Pharmaceutical metabolite research.
Dr. Fan is a standing committee member in Drug Evaluation Division in the Chinese Research Hospital Association, and a committee member in Drug Metabolism Division in the Chinese Pharmacological Society. He is a standing director in the Shanghai Pharmaceutical Association, and the chairman in Pharmaceutical Analysis Division in the Shanghai Pharmaceutical Association. He is also a committee member in Hospital Pharmacy Division in the Shanghai Pharmaceutical Association, a committee member in Drug Metabolism Division in the Shanghai Pharmacological Society, a committee member in Clinical Pharmacy Management Division in the Shanghai Hospital Association and an expert committee member in the Shanghai Clinical Pharmaceutical Quality Control Center.
From January 1997 to February 2002, he worked in the Pharmacy Department at Shanghai Changhai Hospital, and was mainly engaged in hospital pharmacy services and clinical pharmacology research. From March 2002 to March 2015, he was the director of Pharmaceutical Analysis Department at School of Pharmacy at The Second Military Medical University, and was mainly engaged in teaching, research and innovative drug research in modern pharmaceutical analysis, pharmacokinetics, and chemical biology of TCM. Since April 2015, he is the director of Clinical Pharmacy Department at Shanghai General Hospital, and is mainly engaged in research of clinical pharmacy, clinical pharmacology, clinical metabonomics and individualized therapeutic drug monitoring.
Dr. Fan has hosted and completed five projects supported by Natural Science Foundation of China and more than 20 projects supported by Significant New Drugs Development Program, 863 Program or by Shanghai Committee of Science and Technology. He was in charge of the project “A comprehensive new drug research and development technology platform----Clinical and preclinical pharmacokinetic technology platform”, which was supported by “Significant New Drugs Development” during the Twelfth Five-year Plan Period and the project “Pharmaceutical analysis and quality control technology platform for military medicine”, which was supported by “Significant New Drugs Development” during the Twelfth Five-year Plan Period.
In 2008, he collaborated with professor Yvan at College of Pharmacy at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in the project “Research on fingerprints of Chinese Materia Medica to develop standard and research protocols evaluating their identity, safety and reproducibility”. In 2012, he received fund from the U.S. Gates Foundation and collaborated with U.S. UCLA and Shanghai Jiaotong University to carry out the project “Preclinical and clinical pharmacokinetics and drug interaction study of antituberculosis drug and Anti-HIV drugs”.
He has hosted and completed more than 50 projects in new drug development research including drug bioavailability evaluation, clinical pharmacokinetics, preclinical metabolism and pharmacokinetics and has got more than 10 new drug certificates. As a co-chairman, he hosted the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 ISSX/CSSX meetings as well as the 2014 and 2015 CSSX DMPK Pujiang Forum.
He has got more than 10 national invention patents and published more than 100 articles as first author or corresponding author in journals such as J Proteome Res, Toxicology, Anal Chim Acta, Anal Bioanal Chem, Talanta, J Chromatogr A, J Chromatogr B, J Pharm Biomed Anal, and et. al., with cumulative IF over 300 and citations over 500 times. He is chief editor or vice-chief editor of 7 books including textbooks and academic books. And he educated more than 40 doctoral and graduate students.
