Our Hospital Holds a Symposium on "Identification of Psychological Demand of and Service for Inpatients in General Hospital"

During Jun. 20-21, the academic meeting "Identification of Psychological Demand of and Service for Inpatients in General Hospital" sponsored by our hospital and Shanghai Mental Health Center and undertaken by External Cooperation Office was held at the Conference Center of Southern Branch of Songjiang. Professor Wang Xingpeng, President of our hospital, Professor Xu Yifeng, President of Shanghai Mental Health Center, Professor He Yanling, Chief Physician of Shanghai Mental Health Center, Professor Cheng Wenhong, Director of Psychological Department of our hospital, Professor Gregory Fricchione, Deputy Director of Psychiatry Department of Massachusetts General Hospital, Associate Professor Nejad, Director of Trauma Surgery and Psychological Medicine Department, Wittmann, Deputy Director of Emergency Psychological Medicine Department and other experts of domestic and international medical psychology field attended the meeting and discussed the common psychological and metal problems of the inpatients in general hospitals.

At the symposium, the experts had a wonderful discussion on the development of psychosomatic medicine, mental health service of Emergency Department of general hospital, trauma psychological medicine of general hospital, poor patients management of general hospital, substance dependence and metal health service of general hospital, management of suicide patient patient of emergency ward in general hospital, heart tumor and mental health service of Neurology Department, psychological medicine on intensive care unit, psychosomatic medicine of general hospital and function of group consultation of Psychiatry Department. They discussed the clinical care related psychological problems in such aspects as basic psychological skill, doctor-patient communication skill, basic skill of psychosomatic medicine, psychological/emotional disorder identification and intervention and interpersonal communication.

As social culture and economy develop and the spectrums of disease changes, the patients have increasing demand for psychological service. As a result, "provision of quality psychological service" becomes an important part of hospital reform. The new medical model places psychological factors at the key position of disease occurrence, development and transfer. Therefor, strengthening psychological service work is a significant measure for implementing the "patients oriented" concept. This symposium brought advanced concept abroad, which is of great benefit to the development of medical psychology of our hospital.
