As one of the key tasks of our hospital in 2014, the renovation project of the pharmacy system at the Southern Branch of our hospital has been fully put into operation a few days ago after more than half a year of construction and joint debugging.

For the patients, the most intuitional impression is the great improvement of prescription and dispensation speed - two sets SWISSLOG automatic outpatient dispenser, four sets of smart medicine-chest and two sets of automatic medicine feeding system, which can issue a piece of prescription in about 30 seconds. The medicine supplementation speed at 1/5 s/case of the background accelerates the prescription processing speed and reduce the time for the patients to take medicine by lining up. The medicine is checked by laser with the inventory updated in real time to ensure drug supply at the peak visit time. It's unnecessary for the pharmacists to rise and take medicine like they did in the past. Now the medicine can be directly dispensed to the pharmacists by the spiral slideway, which reduces their labor intensity. The smart medicine basket based on RFID chip technology is able to help the pharmacists at the dispensing window quickly find the right drug for the patient. Now it only takes 30s to take the medicine, while this needed to be completed in 3-4 min in the past. Songjiang TV made a special report on this service.

In addition to proving convenience for the patients, it is significant that the renovation project of the pharmacy system at the Southern Branch finally makes it possible to "return the pharmacists to clinical service". Based on the actual situation of each drug supply link of our hospital, the project first introduced the cutting-edge medicine logistics supply , processing and distribution integration management concept (SPD), drew support from the most advanced outpatient, emergency, inpatient dispensation and single dose subpackaging system equipment and rail transmission system, applied the joint operation manner of outpatient pharmacy and inpatient pharmacy and completed the outpatient, emergency and inpatient prescription and medical order examination and drug dispensation in a close-loop way.

This system largely reduces labor cost and changes the work mode of the original medicine in- and ex-warehouse, transportation and clinical pharmacy service which was all completed by the pharmacists. In the way, the pharmacists will be free from the pure logistics work of medicine handling and putaway and put their concentration on prescription examination, medicine review, drug consulting, drug use education and other clinical pharmacy service, which returns to and sublimes the essence and connotation of the pharmacy service of the hospital and really indicates the professionalization of pharmacy service of the hospital. The future goal of our hospital will be "return the logistical work to logistics department, return the pharmacists to pharmacy work".
