Shanghai General Hospital Bengbu National Regional Medical Center Was Officially Unveiled

On the morning of December 30, 2023, the unveiling event and cadre appointment conference of Bengbu Hospital (National Comprehensive Regional Medical Center) of Shanghai General Hospital were held. Ren Qinghua, vice governor of Anhui Province, Fan Xianqun, the academician of the CAE Member, vice president of Shanghai Jiaotong University as well as the dean of the medical school of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xu Shuqiang, former director of the Department of System Reform of the National Health Commission, president of the Chinese Hospital Development Research Institute of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhang Hongjun, deputy secretary general of the provincial governme nt,Huang Xiaowu, the secretary of the Bengbu Municipal Party Committee, Liu Tongzhu, Secretary and Director of the Party Group of Anhui Provincial Health Commission, Zheng Xingdong, president of Shanghai General Hospital and general president of Bengbu Hospital, Jiang Jiaping, secretary of the Party Committee of Bengbu Medical University, Weng Jianping, president of Bengbu Medical University, and Yao Wenbing, deputy secretary of the Party Committee attended.

Shanghai General Hospital Bengbu Hospital is the first national comprehensive regional medical center in the province jointly built by the Anhui Provincial Government, Bengbu Municipal Government, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Bengbu Medical University. This hospital is located in Huaishang District in Bengbu. The advantages of Shanghai General Hospital in management, technology, brand, and the role of Bengbu Medical University Second Affiliated Hospital is fully leveraged. Moreover, a high-level clinical diagnosis and treatment center, a high-level talent training base, a high-level scientific research innovation and achievement transformation platform have been bulit, and a "comprehensive ecological graded diagnosis and treatment" that connects Shanghai and Anhui, with extensive radiation has been formed as well, aiming at providing convenience for the people in northern Anhui province and even the wider region to enjoy high-quality national medical resources nearby, and striving to build a national comprehensive regional medical center with advanced medical technology which can meet people's satisfaction.

Fan Xianqun congratulated Shanghai General Hospital Bengbu Hospital on its unveiling. He said that building a national regional medical center is a major deployment made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council in order to promote the expansion and sinking of high-quality medical resources and regional balanced layout. He hopes that Shanghai General Hospital Bengbu Hospital will seize the opportunity to further improve its political position, focus on talent cultivation, and do its job well. It should actively make good use of the high-quality factor resources, preferential policy support, and superior development environment of Anhui and Bengbu, accelerate the construction of a high-level national comprehensive regional medical center, bring better medical services to the people in northern Anhui and even the Yangtze River Delta region, and contribute greater efforts to accelerate the construction of a healthy China.

Liu Tongzhu stated that the Provincial Health Commission will fully support the construction and development of hospitals, provide thoughtful services for the dispatched experts, create a good development environment for hospitals, promote the realization of functional positioning of hospitals, and better meet the medical service needs of people in northern Anhui and even the whole province. We hope that the hospital can fully leverage its advantages, seize opportunities, and fulfill its mission, and soon establish itself as a high-level hospital with a wide impact and radiation to the surrounding areas as well as a livelihood hospital that reassures the Party and government and satisfies the people. With the high-quality development of the hospital, we will drive the overall improvement of regional diagnosis and treatment service capabilities.

Zhang Xinzhou said that the Provincial Development and Reform Commission will strengthen overall coordination, continue to provide service guarantees with relevant units at the provincial and municipal levels, create good conditions for hospital construction and operation, and make positive contributions to accelerating the construction of a high-level national comprehensive regional medical center and continuously improving the health and well-being of the people.

Zheng Xingdong expressed gratitude for the strong support provided by the province and the city, and stated that he will spare no effort in promoting hospital construction, striving to create a new model of cooperation between national comprehensive regional medical centers, and making new and greater contributions to the construction of a healthy Bengbu and a healthy Anhui.

In the presence of Vice Governor Ren Qinghua, Jiang Jiaping, secretary of the Party Committee of Bengbu Medical University, presented appointment letters to Zheng Xingdong as general president, Li Zheng as executive president of the National Regional Medical Center (Shanghai General Hospital Bengbu Hospital) , ans Fan Weidong as chief accountant.

Li Zheng stated in his speech that he will always bear in mind the instructions of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Shanghai General Hospital, carry forward the spirit of hard work and entrepreneurship, take the development of characteristic disciplines as the starting point, lead the Shanghai experts and local expert team in Bengbu, promote the disease prevention gateway forward project and all-weather medical model, actively sink into community villages and towns, and strive to translate the brand, technology, and management of Shanghai General Hospital to Bengbu to build a Shanghai hospital at the doorstep of 30 million people in northern Anhui.
