Expanding Global “Friend Circle”--Workshop with Urologists from Russian Federal Scientific Clinical Center and Indonesia EMC Wendeng Hospital Held by Urinary Surgery Center

Recently, Professor Andrei Sanzalov from the Urology Department of Russian Federal Scientific Clinical Center and Professor Isaac Deswanto from the Urology Department of EMC Wendeng Hospital in Indonesia came to visit our Urology Center and participated in the International Workshop on the Clinical Applicaion of Urology Laser with experts and scholars of our hospital. Having had a heated academic discussion, it is a shared commission to benefit the patients with constantly improved surgery techniques such as the application of laser technology in minimally invasive surgeries by sharing latest medical knowledge and technologies together. 

Professor Xia Shujie, academic leader of Urology Center, Professor Han Bangmin, director of the Center, Professor Jing Yifeng, deputy director of Prostate Urology Surgery Department and Professor Shao Yi, Urological Stone Department received the experts and attended the workshop.

Professor Xia Shujie warmly welcomed two experts and introduced mutiple achivement we have made on clinical and scientific research in the area of prostate hyperplasia treatment, especially in the application of laser technology. 

Professor Han Bangmin introduced the glorius past and current development of Urology Center, and emphasized on the academically leading position as well as the importance of Prostate Urology Control Department.

Aside from sharing experiences in fields of prostate and lithiasis, the two international experts also went to the operating rooms to observe four surgeries after the workshop, including transurethral thulium laser resection of bladder tumors, transurethral thulium laser prostatectomy, and transurethral holmium laser prostatectomy conducted by Profess Jing Yifeng, and transurethral thulium laser lithotripsy conducted by Professor Shao Yi. Seeing the sophisticated and elaborate surgeries peformed by our experts and decent environment as well as the first-class supporting facilities of the new operating rooms, they couldn’t help expressing their appreciation.

By means of surgical demonstration and mutual sharing of cutting-edge international surgical technologies as well as clinical techniques, a series of important and difficult probloems are disscussed, thus strengthening the connection between our research and the global latest perspectives on the development of urology.  

International academic workshops and seminars provide opportunities to learn foreign experience and apply it to our practice, thus promoting understandings and solutions to minimally invasice surgeries so as to establish a global reputation of Urinary Surgery Center of Shanghai General Hospital.
