Letters from patients

Letter I

When I write down these words, I can't help but be filled with emotions. Although my mother has not been in hospital for long, I’m really impressed by the professional knowledge and skills, meticulous attitude as well as the amiableness shown by your doctors in Vision Recovery Center. Thanks to your effort, my mom is now in recovery. On behalf of her and my whole family, I would like to express my sincere gratefulness to you.

-- Patient Ms. Yang’s daughter

In July this year, Ms. Yang encountered a sudden car accident and was knocked out of her moped, resulting in deformation in the left side of her face. She was then immediately taken to our Emergency Department in the North branch by ambulance. Medical examination showed that in addition to the physical trauma, Ms. Yang suffered multiple fractures in left orbit, zygomatic bone, maxilla sinus and so on. In regard to the orbital fructure and some certain symptons, doctors in Emergency Departement recommended Mr. Chen Hui, director of the Oculoplastic and Orbit Department.

After a further examination through 3D CT scanning, Chen found that the the fracture location not only could affect Ms. Yang’s appearance but may lead to functional problem such as malocclusion which conservative treatment dosen’t work, thus requiring hospitalization for a surgical treatment as soon as possible. Considering that Ms. Yang has never had any surgery before, Chen’s team patiently and meticulously analyzed the current fracture situation, the surgical implementation plan, and the postoperative recovery, reliving Yang’s anxiety to a large extent.

Ms. Yang’s daughter wrote in her letter: “My mom is gradually recovering. When conducting the ward-rounds, Director Chen Hui, Attending Physician Cheng Lu, and Resident Shen Hangqi Physician advised repeatedly on the postoperative diet and nursing care. Though words are plain, they did, are great encouragement to us. We are very grateful to your hospital for cultivating such an outstanding medical team with high medical ethics, excellent medical skills, splendid teamwork, and tireless efforts.”

Letter II

In addition to the fact that I am already 74 years old and has been suffering from high blood pressure and coronary heart disease, me and my wife only have one chilld who is not allowed to ask for leave continuously, which makes us have no choice but to turn to the emergency physician. In spite of the extreme shortage of ward resource, they made their best to arrange the hospitalization and nursing care for my wife. I am really moved by the kindness and meticulousness of all the physicians who’s been treating my wife as their own family member. My wife is now getting better day by day.

-- From Old Mr.Huang

Seven years ago, old Ms Yang suffered from an acute stroke, resulting in right hemiparesis and motor aphasia. And with many other underlying diseases such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, premature beats, Yang’s physical condition was certainly not optimistic.

However, misfortunes never come singly. This August, Yang accidentally fell and suffered from fractures of her pubic bone and coccyx. What’s even worse, Yang was infected with pneumonia later. As a result, she was sent to the Emergency Department of the South Branch in Songjia District.

Considering that Yang’s condition might deteriorate at any time and her huasband as well as her son were not able to take care of her in time, Dr. Jin Wei, Deputy Chief Physician of the Emergency and Critical Disease Department, made every effort to arrange the hospitalization and nursing care for Yang although the emergency ward resources was in shortage to an extreme extent.

After Yang was admitted to the hospital, Dr. Deng Huibiao, attending physician, and Dr. Tang Jianqiong, resident physician from the Department of Emergency and Critical Disease, made quick response to adopt targeted treatments, succeeding in improving her health condition. When nurse Gao Jinjue found bedsores on Yang’s back during the ward-round, she took immediate treatment and prevented the bedsores from exacerbation. Now Yang has been discharged from the hospital upon her recovery.
