Shanghai General Hospital Made Effort to Aid Morroco After the Severe Earthquake Hit

Marrakesh, Morocco, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Statistics released by Moroccan Interior Ministry on Sept. 11 showed that the severe earthquake struck on the night of Sept. 8 had caused 2,862 people death and 2,562 injured. 

After the earthquake, overseas Chinese and Chinese enterprises in Morocco had been voluntarily donating blood and supplies, offering great help to relive the people in disaster area. 

Lin Weiqiang, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Moroccan Chinese And Overseas Chinese, told Xinhua on Sept. 11 that the Chamber of Commerce has already launched appeals to the Chinese in Morocco for charity money donations, and all these donations will be delivered officially through the Chinese Embassy in Morocco. 

"We are also calling for donations of urgently needed supplies for the disaster area", said Zhang Kai, Director of the Moroccan Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

Aside from overseas Chinese, medical workers from China also play an important role in the disaster relief with thier benevolentness by offering medical assistance and donating their blood, demonstrating the Chinese mission of "When trouble occurs at one spot, help comes from all quarters".

As told by Fan Xiaosheng, captain of Chinese Medical Aid Team for Morroco, in response to the extreme lack of blood for emergency treatment after the earthquake, they made an effort, hoping the residents affected can recover from the diaster and rebuild their home with vigour as soon as possible.

Zhang Jianhai from Shanghai General hospital, detachment leader of Chinine Medical Aid Team for Sedat, Morroco, and his team member Zhou Long, went to Hassan II Hospital in Sedat on Sept. 11 to donate blood. Dr. Zhou Long, an obstetrician and gynecologist, whose weight just reached the standards, insisted on giving a blood donation of 450ml.
