Experts from Shanghai General Hospital Visited Jiuquan to Foster the Development of the National Regional Medical Center

On May 29th, our esteemed team of experts, consisting of nine members and headed by President Zheng Xingdong, embarked on a mission to Jiuquan People's Hospital. They were set to discuss a joint project dedicated to expediting the construction of the National Regional Medical Center, in collaboration with the Jiuquan Municipal Government. The symposium was attended by key municipal figures, including Chen Guoxi, Deputy Mayor of Jiuquan, Secretary of the Health and Health Work Committee, and Party Group Secretary, and Zhang Tingsheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group of the Municipal Health and Health Commission, Director, Secretary of the Party Committee of the People's Hospital. The symposium was orchestrated by President Feng Xianni.
In the symposium, Feng Xianni represented the Jiuquan People's Hospital, expressing genuine gratitude and a warm welcome to the visiting expert team under the leadership of Zheng Xingdong. Xianni elaborated on the recent achievements and progress made as a result of the harmonious integration and collaboration between the two hospitals. She noted that since the initiation of the Jiuquan National Regional Medical Center project, in alliance with Shanghai General Hospital, the latter has sent more than 100 expert teams to Jiuquan, aiding with 268 surgeries, treating over 3,600 outpatient patients, and consulting on 158 complex cases. Through an expansive cooperation in various fields, such as teaching, scientific research, and surgical practice, the project's positive impact has been swiftly evident, enhancing the local medical prowess, community satisfaction, and overall improvement in patient care. Xianni expressed her eager anticipation for the continuous strengthening of their long-term collaboration in multiple areas, including medical technology, talent cultivation, discipline building, and medical research.
Zheng Xingdong expressed his full recognition of the accomplishments made during the cooperation of the two hospitals, appreciating the Jiuquan Municipal Committee and Municipal Government's robust support for the National Regional Medical Center's construction, the pragmatic approach of the Jiuquan Hospital, and the determination of their colleagues in Jiuquan. He proposed three critical steps for furthering the development of the National Regional Medical Center: elevating the hospital's development realm, changing the hospital's development concept, and strengthening the hospital's development capability. The symposium involved comprehensive discussions regarding medical services, talent cultivation, discipline building, cadre team building, refined management, and the construction of the new hospital district, which served as a significant catalyst for the National Regional Medical Center's construction. In the afternoon, Zheng Xingdong and his team proceeded to survey the ongoing construction of the new hospital district, offering valuable recommendations for its further development.
The central ethos of the National Regional Medical Center's construction lies in extending high-quality medical resources and fostering regional equity in healthcare distribution. This initiative powers the establishment of medical communities within the vicinity of the National Regional Medical Center. On the afternoon of May 29th, Zheng Xingdong and his delegation visited the Jinta County People's Hospital, a satellite of the Jiuquan People's Hospital, to discuss and study the comprehensive reform of public hospitals and the expansion of medical services.
The expert group toured the inpatient ward and interventional diagnosis and treatment department at the Jinta County People's Hospital, acquiring detailed knowledge about infrastructure development, medical equipment availability, medical service evolution, and talent team creation. Du Xin Hong, the Jinta County magistrate, briefed the expert team on the county's socio-economic climate. The heads of the County Health Bureau and the County People's Hospital presented an overview of the county's health development status and the county hospital's medical service growth to the expert group, initiating comprehensive discussions on harnessing the influence of the Jiuquan National Regional Medical Center to propel the development of Jinta County People's Hospital.
Zheng Xingdong noted that since the collaborative establishment of the Jiuquan National Regional Medical Center by Shanghai General Hospital and the Jiuquan Municipal Government, the Jiuquan People's Hospital has made remarkable progress towards the National Regional Medical Center's construction objectives. The future course includes the joint efforts of both parties to encourage nearby county-level hospitals and community health service centers to form a cohesive medical community. The aim is to make high-quality resources accessible at the grassroots level, ensuring people in surrounding counties and cities can benefit from top-tier medical services. The expert group shared insights on medical services, talent cultivation, discipline construction, team building, and sophisticated management, offering advanced concepts in health services and medical service development, and suggesting pathways for the progress of grassroots health endeavors.
On May 30th, led by Chen Guoxi, the deputy mayor of Jiuquan City, the expert team from the First People's Hospital of Shanghai and Jiuquan Hospital was assigned the medical support task for the "Shenzhou 16" manned spacecraft launch. They were prepared to handle any potential medical emergencies during the launch and provided complimentary medical services to soldiers and their families stationed at the desert satellite launch base. Their commitment and proficiency garnered full recognition and high accolades from the base soldiers.
During their tenure at the Jiuquan People's Hospital, our expert team conducted a variety of activities, such as rounds, outpatient clinics, and lectures, fostering a profound integration of disciplines between the two institutions.
