2022 Symposium on Obstetrics and Gynecology Cases of China Aiding Morocco Medical Team Successfully Held

With the arrival of the White Dew, the land is full of golden grains, and the feeling of autumn is getting stronger. In this harvest season, on September 2, 2022, the "2022 Symposium on Obstetrics and Gynaecology Cases of the China Aiding Morocco Medical Team", sponsored by the Chinese Aiding Morocco Medical Team and co organized by the Sedat Branch of the Chinese Aiding Morocco Medical Team and Shanghai General Hospital, was successfully held. This activity has been followed by more than 4500 people online and achieved a good response.

Aiding medical care is a glorious task entrusted to the medical system by the nation and the people. Aiding medical teams shoulder an important mission, give full play to their professional qualities, and strive to ensure the health of the people of the recipient countries. The team of obstetricians and gynaecologists is an important part of the China aiding Morocco medical team due to the local national conditions. The daily work of obstetricians and gynaecologists is heavy and challenging. The purpose of this academic activity is to create an academic exchange platform for obstetricians and gynaecologists to further improve the level of clinical diagnosis and treatment of critical and difficult cases and reduce maternal mortality. The opening ceremony of the meeting was presided over by Jianhai Zhang, deputy director of the pain department of Shanghai General Hospital and Sedat branch leader of the China aiding Morocco medical team. Jing Shen, deputy secretary of the party committee of Shanghai General Hospital, delivered a welcome speech, introduced the history of the medical cause of aiding medical team in Shanghai General Hospital, and said that the hospital has attached importance to and supported the aiding medical work for a long time, and fully affirmed all the medical staff, including the department of gynaecology and obstetrics. Xiaosheng Fan, head of Shanghai aiding Moroccan medical team and vice president of the East China Sanatorium, pointed out that obstetricians and gynaecologists formed a powerful team of Shanghai aiding Morocco medical team. There are great differences in maternal and infant health care work between China and Morocco, and there are many difficulties in clinical work. He hope that the webinar can create an interactive platform for specialists to do a better job in the health protection of mothers and infants in Morocco. Fang Liu, director of the cooperation and exchange department of Shanghai General Hospital, said that she would make full use of the hospital's international exchange and cooperation platform to fully support the aiding medical work. It is hoped that the medical team will maintain close academic exchanges with the experts in Shanghai to improve their ability to deal with difficult problems. The academic activity is a new exploration in the medical work for aiding Morocco medical team, which mainly focuses on the exchange and discussion of difficult, critical and special cases encountered in the work of gynaecology and obstetrics in Morocco. Prof. Xianming Xu of Shanghai General Hospital made detailed and professional comments on each case according to the local conditions of Morocco. The case discussion session was presided over by Bin Cai, deputy captain of Sedat team of the China aiding Morocco medical team. Combined with their own experiences, the team members shared the thrilling and high-risk maternal cases, such as scar / non-scar uterine rupture, placenta previa, placental abruption, postpartum hemorrhage, and so on. It is very difficult to deal with the cases even with rich and high-quality medical resources in China, not to mention in Morocco, where there is a lack of medicine, related products, prenatal examinations and medical resources. The team members of Morocco have overcome all kinds of difficulties. With their own superb professional skills, teamwork, treatment plan in accordance with local conditions, they have saved the lives of mothers and babies and protected the health of the vast number of Moroccan pregnant women. They have been unanimously praised and fully trusted by the local people. With regard to the various situations in the diagnosis and treatment of the aid medical team, Prof. Xianming Xu gave his own suggestions and opinions on the above cases from the diagnosis and treatment guidelines at home and abroad, combined with the existing local conditions in Morocco. The team members  enlightened and benefited a lot. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Xiaosheng Fan summarized the academic activities. First of all, he thanked each team member for their hard work, especially Professor Xu for his unreserved and accurate comments, as well as the leaders and cooperation and exchange department of Shanghai General Hospital for their strong support. 

The case discussion lasted more than 3 hours, and it was late at night in China, but no matter the experts, the team members, or the colleagues who followed the meeting, they all participated and listened carefully. Dr. Xiaoshen Fan pointed out that this academic activity has achieved the desired results, which should be a good start and will open up new ideas for the future aid work.
