Director Huang Chen Was Invited to Give A Speech at 2021 International Forum on Laparoscopic and Robotic Reduced Orifice Surgery

On October 9, 2021, nearly 100 experts from countries and regions in Europe, America and Asia gathered online to attend the 2021 International Forum on Laparoscopic and Robotic Reduced Orifice Surgery. As the only surgeon from mainland China, Prof. Chen Huang, Director of Gastrointestinal Surgery of our hospital, was invited to attend this conference and gave a lecture on "Single-port Robotic Colorectal Surgery: Shanghai Experience".

This year, Prof. Chen Huang was the first to carry out the fourth generation Da Vinci robot radical total gastrectomy for gastric cancer and single-hole radical colorectal cancer surgery in Shanghai, and the first to carry out the fourth generation Da Vinci robot single-hole "intestine-hepatic colectomy" for liver metastasis of rectal cancer in China, both of which achieved good results and were widely reported by the media and have attracted great attention from colleagues in Japan, Korea and Taiwan area. For this reason, the 2021 International Forum on Laparoscopic and Robotic Reduced Orifice Surgery invited Prof. Chen Huang to give an online lecture.

Prof. Chen Huang introduced the long history of our hospital, the scale of "one hospital, two sites", the highest level of national hospital assessment, the discipline construction and medical technology of the General Surgery Center, and shared the development of robotic surgery in gastrointestinal surgery since the introduction of the first Da Vinci robotic Xi surgery system in Shanghai. In particular, he shared the characteristics of technique, application and optimistic results of the single-hole robotic colorectal surgery that our gastrointestinal surgery department pioneered in Shanghai. The excellent speech and smooth surgery won the enormous praise from the participants. Experts from Germany, Japan and Taiwan area fully discussed the case, puncture hole layout and surgical techniques of single-port surgery patients, hoping to carry out adequate academic exchanges and in-depth academic cooperation, and to observe the surgery on site.

Our gastrointestinal surgery department has carried out nearly 150 Da Vinci Robot-assisted gastrointestinal tumor surgeries, all of which have achieved good results. In the International Forum, we demonstrated our robotic surgery technology to the world and expanded the international influence of our hospital.
