The Stomatology Department

The Stomatology Department was founded by Professor Gong Minzhu who pursued doctoral degree in Germany at the initial stage of liberation. Under the leadership of previous directors including Gong Minzhu, Shi Dingqi and Song Meng, it has become a comprehensive stomatology department integrating medical science, scientific research and teaching. The Department, set up at Southern and Northern Branch, equipped with 26 sets of medical devices including comprehensive dental chair, root canal microscope, ultrasonic root enlargement machine, imported panoramic shooting machine and digital dental film machine. There are Division of Oral Medicine, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Division of Prosthodontics, Orthodontics Department, Tooth-Planting Outpatient and Specialized Outpatient for Periodontal Disease, Technicians Room and Radiology Room.

The scientific research team led by Professor Song Meng presided over several key scientific research projects of Shanghai Science and Technology Committee, cooperative scientific research projects of Donghua University and undertook several scientific research projects at national level. It made several achievements in oromaxillo-facial region tumor gene research and tissue engineering research field and published nearly 20 papers each year, some of which were included by SCI. Our department is the first standardized training base for resident doctors in stomatology and also the clinical pharmacology experiment base of stomatology of the Ministry of Health.

There are eight approved beds in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Now there are 27 regular doctors and three technicians. It has 3 chief physicians, 9 associate chief physicians, 11 attending doctors, 4 resident doctors, 1 associate chief technician and 2 technicians. The Department has three master's supervisors. There are 2 doctors, 18 masters, 6 undergraduates and 4 junior college graduates. The Director and Executive Director (Southern Branch) of the Department are Song Meng and Wang Xiaoli, respectively.
