Our Hospital Will Lead “The Development, Evaluation and Improvement of a Laryngoscope Intraluminal Self-Evolving, Surgical Robot Dedicated to Oral Implantology” in the National Key R&D Plan
Recently, as required by the High Technology Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a kick-off meeting for the intelligent robot project “The Development, Evaluation and Improvement of a Laryngoscope Intraluminal Self-Evolving, Surgical Robot Dedicated to Oral Implantology” in the National Key R&D Plan was held in our hospital’s North Division. Leaders and relevant experts from the expert panel on robotics of the High Technology Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, Scientific Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and cooperating organizations attended the meeting.
The meeting was presided over by Prof. Dong Pin, our hospital’s academic leader and chief surgeon of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery. At the meeting, our hospital’s vice president Prof. Zheng Junhua introduced the history and status of our hospital and otolaryngology, head and neck surgery to the experts. On behalf of our hospital, he promised to give full support to the implementation of major projects and called on the four cooperating organizations to cooperate actively to contribute to the development of robotics in China. Zhu Yanhong, head of our hospital’s Scientific Research Office, announced the member list for the “two panels and one committee”. Prof. Zheng Junhua presented the letters of appointment. Guan Xinping, head of the Scientific Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Mei Junhui, deputy head of the New and High Technology Department of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, Prof. Zhao Jie, head of the expert panel for the Intelligent Robot Guide of the Ministry of Science and Technology and a professor of Harbin Institute of Technology, Dr. Liu Zhenzhong from the High Technology Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the project’s responsible expert Prof. Wang Shuxin from Tianjin University, Prof. Han Jianda from Nankai University, Prof. Liu Chengliang from the Intelligence Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Prof. Duan Xingguang from Beijing Institute of Technology respectively put forward detailed and specific opinions and suggestions on such aspects as technical support, resource allocation, key problems and key links in the process of project implementation, technical programs review and acceptance requirements.
Apart from giving suggestions, the experts also pointed out the existing problems in the progress of the project, required the project undertakers and their employers to be highly responsible and attentive to national projects in the manner they treat legal contracts. The project team carefully listened to the experts’ opinions.
It’s learnt that the National Key R&D Plan came into being by integrating the former Program 973, Program 863, National Science and Technology Support Program and other research projects from various ministries. It mainly focuses on major research for the public good and concerning the national economy and the people's livelihood, as well as major scientific and technological problems concerning industrial core competitiveness, overall independent innovation capability and national security, to break the technical bottlenecks in major areas of national economic and social development.
